Close associate of drug trafficker Dubai Tharanga arrested

Officers of the Police Special Task Force (STF) have arrested a person who allegedly carries out money transactions with the underworld criminal figure infamously known as “Dubai Tharanga”, in Kurunegala.On December 18, a person had been arrested with 55 grams of heroin during a raid carried out by the Embilipitiya Police Crimes Unit. Today’s arrest was carried out based on the information uncovered during the interrogation of that suspect, the police said.The 39-year-old suspect has been identified as a close associate of the organized criminal and drug trafficker “Dubai Tharanga” and is a resident of Mawathagama, according to police.It has been revealed that he is one of the leading figures carrying out money transactions for the drug network of “Dubai Tharanga”.
