Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, the Princess Royal of the United Kingdom, who is on a three-day official visit to Sri Lanka, visited the Liveramentu War Graves in Colombo on Friday (12), her first overseas visit to a War Graves site since assuming her role as President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.The Princess Royal, President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, laid a wreath during the Act of Remembrance at the Liveramentu War Graves.“The Princess Royal was welcomed by the Vice President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and the British Defence Adviser to Sri Lanka at Liveramentu Cemetery on her first overseas visit to a War Graves site since assuming her role as President of the Commission,” the British High Commission in Colombo said.Meanwhile, Princess Anne yesterday met with communities resettled in landmine-cleared areas in Muhamalai, Kilinochchi District. “The UK continues to work to keep Sri Lankans safe from landmines and to support them to sustainably resettle in conflict-affected regions of the country,” the high commission said, in a post on ‘X’.
