The boilermaking industry is one of the oldest industries in northern Badakhshan province, and many people rely on the sector for an income.

However, they have called on the government to do more to support them.Badakhshan Department of Commerce and Industry officials say that they are trying to address problems faced by the local boilermakers & who mostly rely on scrap metal for the goods they produce.Mohammad Omar is one of Badakhshan&s boilermakers.

He learned the trade from his father and grandfather.
