The recipients will include an 8-month-old child from Chennai who is struggling to survive due to congenital cardiac condition.A green corridor was created by the AIIMS Organ Retrieval Banking Organisation (ORBO) team for the transport of the retrieved heart from Delhi to MGM Healthcare in Chennai.

Her both kidneys will be transplanted to another child, said doctors, adding that her corneas were kept at AIIMS.Dr Deepak Gupta, professor in neurosurgery department, said Divyanshi was the youngest child to donate heart at the AIIMS trauma centre so far.

She sustained injuries after falling from the balcony of her house while playing.

He said, "Falling from a height is the biggest killer among children under 12 years in India.

We had launched a campaign last year - 'Safe balcony, safe child' to make people aware of this threat, but such cases still continue in the city."The child's father, Raj Thapa, told TOI, "We wish that such an incident never occurs with anyone.

We have lost our child and now we realise the importance of safer balconies.

We want everyone to be aware about this fact and make their balconies safer for their children.

The campaign launched by AIIMS should be promoted."A day earlier, a 48-year-old Shashi, who sustained severe head injuries in a road traffic accident in Noida on November 16, was declared brain dead by doctors.

Her retrieved kidneys were allocated to hospitals through National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation.

One kidney was allocated to RR Hospital, while the other was allocated to AIIMS."This is the 12th organ donation at the AIIMS trauma centre this year.

There is a steep increase in donations and transplantation from brain dead patients at the centre over the last couple of years," said the chief of the trauma centre, Dr Kamran Farooque, adding that last year, a total of 16 organ donors donated their organs giving a new life to over 80 patients in different part of Delhi-NCR.Dr Aarti Vij, prof in-charge at ORBO, AIIMS, appreciated the family's selfless decision to donate organs in the midst of grief.
