NASHIK: Ten individuals, consisting of 4 females and four children, were killed and 23 others were injured in a head-on accident between a high-end bus and a truck on the Sinnar-Shirdi highway (NH-160) at 6.30 am on Friday.

The bus was carrying employees and their loved ones of a printing and packaging company in Ambarnath, Thane, to Shirdi.Police said the condition of six of the hurt was vital.

The hurt have been confessed to 2 personal medical facilities in Sinnar.This is the third significant roadway mishap in Nashik within three months.

On October 8 last year, 13 passengers of a private bus lost their lives near Mirchi Hotel chowk in the city while 5 college students were eliminated on December 9 last year at Sinnar on the Pune-Nashik highway after their lorry hit a road divider.The accident occurred opposite Pawar Vasti at Pathare village along the Sinnar-Shirdi highway.

Owing to some roadway work, the parallel road of the highway implied for vehicles coming from Shirdi to Sinnar was closed.

Most of us were asleep and the bus driver was speeding.

All of a sudden, we heard an explosion-like sound following the collision.

As we opened our eyes, we found ourselves shook off the seat as the bus had tilted on its side.

It continued to skid for nearly 100 feet before it came to a halt, remembered Darshan Patekar, who got away with minor injuries.Patekar was sitting with a few other guests in the rear seat.

Considering that it was a head-on collision, the impact of the crash was more on the front seats of the bus.Sajid Khan, another guest sharing the rear seats with Patekar, stated he was horrified to see many passengers, including kids, resting on the flooring of the bus with the mangled seats all over them.

They were shouting for aid.

I could see blood on the flooring.

We could not pull them out right away since of the heavy weight of the seats, he said.Patekar and Khan were among six travelers on the rear row of the seat.

They handled to break the glass-panes of the windows.

While some of them headed out of the bus through the damaged windows, a couple of them began getting rid of the heavy seats and saved the people trapped under them.By that time, a few citizens of the village reached the area and got engaged in the rescue operation.

The accident took place opposite Pawar Vasti at Pathare town along the Sinnar-Shirdi highway.

He stated, We had to raise the seats and pull out the hurt people.

Other villagers soon reached the spot and signaled the cops and ambulances.
