BHOPAL: A 15-year-old was raped, murdered brutally, and her body was dumped in a village pond in MP's Satna district, police said on Monday.

A 41-year-old married man has been arrested.

The murder happened on November 19 but the body wasn't found till four days later.

And the suspect, Rambhajan Kewat, was nabbed on Sunday, a week after the killing.Satna SP Ashutosh Guptasaid, "It was a blind murder case.Our investigations led to the suspect, who was rounded up and questioned.

He has admitted to committing the crime and the reason for doing so." Sources said that the accused knew the victim for some time.

On November 19, Kewat called her to his farm on some pretext and she went there without suspecting anything.

He raped her, strangled her, and then dumped the body in a pond.When the alarm went out for the missing girl, Kewat even joined search parties and pretended to look for her, say police.

After her body was found on November 23, police began interviewing villagers and found that the girl's aunt had seen her with Kewat earlier on the day she went missing.

It turned out that Kewat had called the child over to his farm a few hours later.
