KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 26Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed a commitment to develop sports tourism in the country. Scope of health insurance to be expanded, says PM Dahal Indigenous culture will be promoted: Minister Kirati In his address to the nation commemorating the completion of one year of his government today, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized the significant foundation laid by Nepali athletes for sports tourism, highlighting the need for essential infrastructure development.He cited the achievement of Nepali cricket players qualifying for the World Cup despite the absence of well-equipped sports grounds.

The Prime Minister pledged comprehensive efforts to prepare adequately for the upcoming World Cup. Additionally, Prime Minister Dahal outlined plans to upgrade and develop cricket grounds across various regions – Tribhuvan University in Kirtipur, Mulpani in Kathmandu, Phapla in Kailali, Biratnagar, and Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium in Chitwan.

He declared this as a project of national pride, to be executed in coordination with all three levels of government.Furthermore, he disclosed that 252 athletes who clinched medals in South Asian and Asian sports competitions received monthly allowances, while the victorious cricket team members were honored with cash prizes.

Highlighting the government's renewed focus, he stressed the imperative of building sports infrastructure.The government's unwavering commitment is directed towards realizing the immense potential of sports tourism by fostering athletes' development, enhancing sports, and bolstering grassroots sports infrastructure. .
