ASHOK NAGAR: A woman was reportedly sexually assaulted by two men posing as police officers while waiting with her husband at a railway station in Madhya Pradesh's Ashok Nagar district, according to police reports on Saturday.The incident unfolded at Mungaoli railway station when the woman, in her 30s, and her husband were waiting after missing their scheduled train to Jaipur, Rajasthan, late on Friday night, an official stated.The couple had missed the train as the husband, a habitual drinker, had left the station in search of alcohol, said J L Ahirwar, the in-charge of the Ashok Nagar Government Railway Police (GRP) station.Two men, disguised as policemen in plain clothes, approached the couple and inquired about their tickets and other details, he explained.Upon the couple's request to see their identity cards, one of the men engaged in an argument with the woman's husband and slapped him, the official reported.Subsequently, one of the accused took the woman's husband away, while the other man forcibly took her into nearby shrubs and sexually assaulted her.
The woman was also subjected to rape by the second assailant.A case under section 376 (D) (gang rape) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code has been filed against the unidentified accused.
A manhunt is underway to apprehend them, the official added.
