Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Jan 16 (ANI): Former chairman of Maharashtralegislative council Prof Narayan Sadashiv Pharande passed away early Tuesday morning at around 8:20 am. He was 78-year-old.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department, in its forecast, says the current cold wave condition is likely to abate from some more places of the country.
Currently, the mild to moderate cold wave is sweeping over Rangpur & Rajshahi divisions and the regions of Tangail, Madaripur, Gopalgonj, Satkhira, Jessore, Chuadanga and Kushtia.

In Dhaka, the sweeping cold is likely to continue with minimum forecast at 11 degrees Celsius, which is likely to be intensified by a windspeed of 8-10kmph.
Forecast says, moderate to thick fog may occur over the country during mid night to morning and it may continue at places during day time.
A fire that broke out at a tin-shed portion of a building in Tejkunipara of Dhaka’s Tejgaon this morning, has been brought under control.
Six units of fire fighters brought the flames which erupted on the top floor of the four-storey house around 11:30am, under control after half an hour, a duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters told The Daily Star.
No one was reported to be hurt in the incident so far, Majharul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tejgaon Police Station, said.
Local people helped the fire fighters at the spot, the official said.

Ferry services on the two major routes in Shimulia-Kathalbari and Paturia-Daulatdia in the Padma river were disrupted early today due to dense fog.
The ferries came to a complete halt from 2:30am to avoid any untoward incident, our Munshiganj correspondent reports this morning quoting Shah Newaz Khalid, assistant general manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTA).
Seven ferries were stranded with thousands of passengers in the middle of the river amid sever cold weather, Khalid told our Munshiganj correspondent.
