MMTC shares surge 7.7% on robust quarterly results

Shares of state-run trading company MMTC rose as much as 7.7 per cent to Rs 32.30 to their highest since October 16. Company posted nearly three-fold surge in September-quarter profit to Rs 316.8 million ($4.36 million) on Monday. More than 2.3 million shares traded, 1.5 times their 30-day moving average of 1.5 million shares. Shares hit their biggest intraday gain since October 11. Stock was down 38.6 per cent this year as of last close.
