Acting Minister of Energy and Water Abdul Latif Mansoor said this week during a trip to Takhar province, where he visited Tangi in Warsaj district, that construction of a hydroelectric dam will soon start in the province once all assessments have been carried out.Mansoor said once complete, the dam will not only store an abundant amount of water but it will irrigate 365,000 acres of land, and produce 80 megawatts of electricity, which will cover Takhar, Kunduz and Badakhshan provinces.Takhar'slocal officials said that there are three locations for the construction of hydroelectric dams in this province, and thousands of acres of agricultural land will be irrigated.Takhar residents have welcomed the move and said little attention was paid to them in the past by the former government.The post Construction of new dam to begin in Takhar'sWarsaj district first appeared on Ariana News.
