NEW DELHI: The Fact Check unit of journalism Information Bureau on Thursday called out six YouTube channels that were found to be spreading out fake news and anti-India content to their nearly 20 lakh customers and ministerial action, seeking a restriction on the channels, may follow later, federal government officials stated.
Last month, the Fact Check Unit of PIB had exposed three channels pitching fake news.
The government had actually then asked YouTube asking the social media platform to take them down.
The 6 channels were working in a coordinated way and spreading fake news about elections, Supreme Court and Parliament procedures, and the performance of the federal government, a declaration stated.
The channels are-- Nation TV with over 5.57 lakh customers, Samvaad TV with 10.9 lakh customers, Sarokar Bharat (21,100), Nation24 (25,400), Swarnim Bharat (6,070) and Samvaad Samachaar (3.48 lakh).
The channels belong to a fake news economy that grows on monetisation of phony news, it said.
